Strengthen The ChurchStrengthen the Church builds the UCC’s future today by funding four cornerstones essential to church growth: the Still Speaking Ministry, youth and adult ministries, lay and pastoral leadership formation, and creating new churches and renewing existing churches. Still Speaking is a short hand for the UCC’s “God is Still Speaking” campaign that started in 2004 spreading our denomination’s message of God’s voice in our world and lives today and our belief in extending God’s extravagant welcome to all. “Because, no mater who you are, or where you are on life’s journey, you’re welcome here."

OGHSOne Great Hour of Sharing began as a multi-denominational call for funds to provide relief and reconstruction following World War II. This basic focus and mission continue today with participating denominations including American Baptist Churches USA, African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, Church of the Brethren, Christian Church (Disciples of Christ which calls this offering Week of Compassion), Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), Reformed Church in America, United Church of Christ, and Church World Service (part of the National Council of Churches). Through One Great Hour of Sharing we strengthen people to improve their own lives and communities by addressing basic human needs both immediate and long term.

The Christmas FundFor decades, the Christmas Fund — formerly known as "Veterans of the Cross" — has helped provide supplemental monies for pension and health insurance premiums to low-income retirees. At Christmas, the offering provides gift checks to hundreds of annuitants, but it also provides emergency assistance to clergy and lay employees and their families throughout the year.

Bread for the WorldBread for the World is a collective Christian voice urging our nation’s decision makers to end hunger at home and abroad. By changing policies, programs and conditions that allow hunger and poverty to persist, we provide help and opportunity far beyond the communities where we live. First United Church of Christ, Austinburg participates in Bread for the World's Offering of Letters to urge responsible action towards hunger and poverty by our elected representatives.

BLANKET THE WORLD WITH LOVE
This is the tenth year that First United Church of Christ, Austinburg will be supporting the Church World Service (CWS) blanket drive. In the past nine years the church has donated funds for over 650 blankets. Last year a record was set with donations for 113 blankets! The CWS Blanket program provides warmth, hope, and caring to neighbors near and far, to those impacted by hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding, and other crises in the United States and around the world. The blankets are used for warmth, shelters, or to carry belongings, for those without permanent homes. The blankets cost $10 each and can be given in memory or honor of someone. During the month of February, a CWS blanket hangs at the front of the sanctuary. For each blanket donated, a heart is placed on the blanket. By the end of February, we can show our love for others by filling our blanket with hearts. |

Neighbors in NeedNeighbors in Need challenges us to imagine our world as God intended it to be. Imagine a world without
violence, without poverty, without hunger, without discrimination and oppression. Neighbors in Need works to make this vision a reality by supporting a wide array of programs to empower marginalized members of our society. http://www.ucc.org/nin/ |
